Yoga for Anxiety

Oncology Yoga Beginner’s Series

Join Clare Patterson, a yoga4cancer Certified Teacher, for a short sequence as part of our Beginners Series for Cancer Patients and Survivors designed to address and manage anxiety.

Anxiety is a well-known and prevalent side effect of cancer, often arising unexpectedly and significantly disrupting daily life and overall quality of well-being. Anxiety caused from the stress of anticipated treatments for cancer patients or the uncertainty and fear of recurrence for cancer survivors is a real thing. Fortunately, Oncology Yoga offers a variety of tools and techniques to help effectively manage these challenging moments.

This short sequence of simple breathing and movement will calm the mind as well as support exercise recommendations.

Healthcare leaders like the American Cancer Society recommend that all cancer patients and survivors get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise – like active yoga practice – each and every week.

This class and the others provided in the Oncology Yoga Beginners Series are taught by certified yoga4cancer professionals. Our goal with Yoga Alliance is to provide the motivation and means to achieve the movement recommendations for cancer recovery and survivorship and to manage the many side effects that cancer survivors might face.
