Financial Aid for Oncology Yoga Professionals
Sometimes we all need a little help from our friends.
Getting an advanced certification to teach yoga to cancer survivors isn’t always affordable. For many of our community, yogis and cancer survivors, the costs are daunting.
In recent years, we’ve seen a growing shift in how individuals are funding their own participation in Oncology Yoga training and services, with many securing grants and support directly from institutions (e.g. cancer centers, hospitals, outreach facilities etc). Part of our mission is to help individuals find these opportunities directly and then work with us to be trained in Oncology Yoga.
At the same time, the broader landscape for small nonprofits – like ours – remains challenging. Increasing costs, limited and more competitive grant funding, and significant reduction in individual contributions to small non-profits have forced us to significantly reduce our services and provide fewer opportunities.
In fact, many larger socially-minded yoga non-profits have had to cease operation due to reduced corporate grants and individual donation.
During this challenging period, we have been forced to evolve to a more cost efficient training model that hopes to reduce costs for our organization and to individuals. (Learn more here.)
We remain dedicated to supporting our community, but we ask for your understanding and continued partnership during this time of transition and resource constraints.
If you would like to help, donate today at yoga4cancer Foundation.

Leverage Your Community
Getting the certification and qualifications to teach Oncology Yoga isn’t always affordable. We know for many of our community the costs are daunting. Also, we know for many of our trained teachers setting up a class can be expensive. We face the same challenges and we work hard to provide scholarships through fundraising and grants. We also ask our community to do the same. Together we are better!
Past and present students have used crowd-fundraising to successfully raise funds to participate in training programs. It’s guaranteed success if you put in the work and due diligence. Plus it creates awareness of your certification, attracts future students, and helps to gain visibility with local hospitals and cancer centers so that ultimately your certification is being well used and rewarded.
Organization Sponsorship
Leverage Your Employer or Hospital
Many cancer centers, hospitals and institutions are investing in Integrative Oncology Services like yoga. They require training and thus provide funding for training.
About 50% of our trainees receive funding from their institutions, either in part or full, to participate in the training. Plus, it provides the necessary motivation to enhance the Oncology Yoga program at the institution and provide safe and effective interventions.
