empowering yoga professionals in your community

Oncology Yoga Partnerships

Cancer Is Everywhere.
Yet, Most Yoga Professionals Aren’t Prepared.

Cancer will touch nearly 40% of the population in their lifetime. Most survivors seek yoga for recovery, strength, stress reduction, and community—but standard yoga teacher training programs do not teach the essential science, safety, and adaptive skills required to support them.

Yoga teachers regularly encounter students who are:

  • In active treatment
  • Managing long-term side effects like neuropathy, fatigue, bone loss, or lymphedema
  • Recovering from surgery or reconstruction
  • Living with metastatic disease
  • Seeking safe ways to rebuild strength and confidence

Yet most teacher training programs never address:

  • How cancer treatments affect movement, energy, immunity, and range of motion
  • Healthcare recommendations for cancer patients and survivors
  • Which poses, transitions, and environments can pose real risk
  • How to modify sequencing safely
  • How to communicate with compassion and clarity
  • How to gather essential student information without violating privacy
  • The lived emotional and physical realities of cancer survivorship

This leaves graduates unprepared—and vulnerable students unsupported. Your program can change that.

what is Oncology Yoga?

Oncology Yoga Is Not Just 'Yoga for Cancer Survivors'—It’s Yoga Informed by Cancer.

Many people assume yoga is automatically safe for everyone. But cancer and its treatments change the body in complex and long-lasting ways—impacting bones, lymphatic flow, immunity, balance, energy levels, and emotional wellbeing. These changes require more than general yoga knowledge.

Oncology Yoga makes yoga safe and effective for cancer survivors by adapting every element of practice to these medical realities. It uses evidence-informed sequencing, safe transitions, breath-guided movement, and therapeutic principles that support recovery while minimizing risk.

Backed by a growing body of research—and recommended by leading healthcare organizations—Oncology Yoga supports strength, lymphatic health, bone density, fatigue management, and emotional wellbeing.

In short: Oncology Yoga isn’t style of yoga – it’s a specialized, evidence-informed skillset designed to help survivors practice safely and effectively.

HOW YOGA SCHOOLS & TRAINING PROGRAMS CAN HELP

Support Starts With Awareness—And It’s Easy to Begin

Yoga therapy schools and teacher training programs play a critical role in preparing the next generation of yoga professionals. As more cancer survivors seek yoga, your students will inevitably meet people affected by cancer—often before they feel confident or qualified to help.

You can change that. And it doesn’t require a curriculum overhaul.

By introducing even a small amount of Oncology Yoga education into your curriculum, you empower your students with essential awareness, safety principles, and pathways for deeper learning. Integration is simple, flexible, and can begin immediately.

Step #1

Build Awareness: Introduce Oncology Yoga to your community

Alert your community to the unique challenges and needs of a cancer patient or survivor with a 1.5 hour session. These sessions explore:

  • The why, why and how of Oncology Yoga?
  • Review of the healthcare recommendations and how most cancer survivors are not achieving
  • Examples of safe and effective yoga interventions
  • The evidence behind Oncology Yoga

This first step increases understanding, reduces harm, and positions your program as more clinically aware and trauma-informed. Your students walk away with immediate, practical insight.

How does it work? These sessions are offered by Tari Prinster or other yoga4cancer Senior teachers and can be hosted live or re-recorded based on availability, scope and other parameters.

Step #2

Grow Competency: Integrate a 5 Hour Oncology Yoga Course Into Your Curriculum

Our 5 Hour Oncology Yoga Course is an easy integration into any existing yoga training program and therapy curriculum. It is online and self-study. The course explores:

  • What Oncology Yoga is and why it matters
  • Outline of how cancer and treatments change the body
  • Key cautions and essential safety principles
  • Common side effects and implications for yoga
  • Safe sequencing, modifications, and prop-based support
  • Research-backed benefits and healthcare guidance
  • Communication tools for vulnerable populations

This course provides 5 hours of CEUs through both Yoga Alliance and International Association of Yoga Therapists. It will strengthen your curriculum, deepens professional readiness, and elevates your graduates’ ability to serve in therapeutic or clinical environments.

How does it work? Access to the 5 Hour Short Course can be seamlessly integrated into any existing curriculum or program. Discount for bulk enrollments provided. Explore the 5 Hour Course here.

Step #3

Once yoga professionals understand the need for Oncology Yoga, many choose to become certified in Oncology Yoga. For partner schools (that have achieved either Step 1 or 2), we will provide an exclusive discount to participate in our 75-Hour Oncology Yoga Certification, complete with:

  • Exclusive Savings on the Tuition
  • 75 hours of CEUs
  • Access to a global community of certified Oncology Yoga professionals
  • Future education opportunities

This ultimate opportunity allows you to support your students’ specialization without needing to build a full oncology curriculum yourself.

We handle the depth—your program provides the gateway.

How does it work? Based on achievement of either Step #1 or Step #2, an exclusive discount and registration process will be provided to either the partner school or the individual.
