Meet Teri Gandy-Richardson

Teri Gandy-Richardson’s path to Oncology Yoga began through her own cancer experience. In 2016, while already a dedicated yoga teacher, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. The diagnosis was both disorienting and transformative—an experience that ultimately led her to the yoga4cancer community.

During treatment and recovery, Teri found that practicing within the knowledgeable and supportive framework of the yoga4cancer methodology provided a safe space to continue her yoga journey and deepen her understanding of how yoga can support healing. That experience inspired her to become more deeply involved in the work.

By 2017, Teri began teaching with the yoga4cancer Foundation and soon after started offering free Oncology Yoga classes for cancer survivors at her Brooklyn studio, PSYoga. Her teaching reflects both professional training and lived experience—an approach that resonates deeply with students navigating cancer and recovery.

Today, Teri serves on the Board of Directors of the yoga4cancer Foundation and mentors teachers in the yoga4cancer certification program. In these roles, she helps guide new professionals as they learn how to create safe, supportive, and evidence-informed yoga practices for people affected by cancer.

Teri’s work is grounded in the belief that yoga can empower individuals to reconnect with their own resilience. She is passionate about supporting students as they explore their practice, discover personal strengths, and recognize the extraordinary capabilities within themselves.

Through her teaching, mentoring, and leadership, Teri continues to help expand the yoga4cancer mission—making safe, accessible Oncology Yoga available to those who need it most.
